Some recent controversies between WP Engine and the broader WordPress community have raised questions from a few of our clients, and we’d like to address any concerns this may bring up. Rest assured, Neon Moth operates independently of WP Engine. While both companies provide WordPress-related services, WP Engine is a large-scale competitor. Our team has never been, and will never be, affiliated with WP Engine.
The ongoing dispute between WP Engine and Automattic (the company behind WordPress) centers around trademark usage and platform control. Although these issues have led to questions about WP Engine’s future relationship with WordPress, they have no impact on Neon Moth clients. We strictly adhere to WordPress guidelines and offer independent hosting and management solutions, so our clients can have peace of mind knowing these disputes do not affect their sites.
Beyond these recent events, security remains our top priority. With every site we manage, our Website Management Plan includes a range of proactive, security-first measures. Our server infrastructure was built with security as a core element and is continuously scanned for viruses, malware, and other threats. We only use thoroughly vetted plugins, updating them promptly when security patches are released. This enables us to prevent most issues from affecting your site.
In the unlikely event that a security issue does arise, we maintain a 90-day backup for each managed site. This allows us to restore a previous, unaffected version of your site if needed. Additionally, we carry a $1,000,000 liability policy that covers any monetary damages related to successful malware or hacking incidents. (Proof of insurance, listing specific clients as additional insured, is available upon request.)
Security is central to everything we do. One of our founders has an extensive background as a cryptologic technician and security manager for the U.S. Navy, bringing a vigilant approach to protecting your data. Monitoring for potential threats and ensuring your site’s safety is second nature for us.
For added reassurance, our approach to WordPress sets us apart from beginner-oriented site builders, which tend to be more vulnerable. We use WordPress as a stable backend, with all front-end design and functionality built through our custom functions and rigorously vetted plugins.
We appreciate the trust you place in us to manage your website’s security. If you have questions or would like further reassurance, please feel free to reach out. Your safety and satisfaction are always top of mind for us.
